Anno Domini

Anno Domini is an early Jaques game which uses a biblical theme to educate the players and is a companion set to Anno Mundi. Like Anno Mundi it is played in the same way, with the 64 cards being separated first of all. Half the cards have dates on them and the other half have the same dates but also depict the event of that year, the year of the Lord, as the name Anno Domini suggests. The cards with pictures are placed in a pile in the centre of the table and the rest are dealt out. Players turn over a card from the centre pile and call out the date to see who responds first by having one of the same in their possession. Matching the date and picture card gives each player a set and the one with most sets wins. The cards depict New Testament history, such as Jesus in the Temple, AD 8; Jesus feeding the Multitude, AD 32 and Timothy Studying the Scriptures, AD 36. The game has 64 cards and this complete set includes the box and the 1890s rules leaflet.
