Nelson Signalling Game

The Nelson Signalling Game was published around 1913 and the inventor of this game, produced by Jaques, was Sir Lees Knowles, BT, C.V.O. (1857-1928). Knowles had a great interest in military history, and wrote a number of books on the life of Napoleon. In 1912 he made a bequest to his alma mater, Trinity College. This established the Lees Knowles Lectureship, an annual series of talks on military science given by distinguished military and naval figure. His game is based on semaphore and morse code, designed to amuse in a variety of ways with players ultimately learning these skills.
