SAM

The game of SAM contains 48 cards in four suits of 12. Each letter S, A and M are given different numerical values. The cards are given colours S is numbered 0-11 and is Brown, A is 0-11 and is Blue, M is 0-11 and is Yellow and SAM is Red. S= Subtraction, A= Addition, M= Multiply and SAM card allows a combination of all three. The game can be played singly or in pairs with either 100 as a target or 200 for games with teams. The object of the game is to score fours or multiples of four. Each player or pair receives 12 cards and the first player lays a card down. Each player must then add a card which when either added, subtracted or multiplied to the card on the table 4 or a multiple of 4 remains. The rules suggest this game is very simple and once learned ‘requires a sufficiency of thought’ which renders the game ‘attractive, bright and interesting’. However, thee rules leaflet then goes on to give several examples of play – this is definitely required in order to understand this game! They then have to give Hints too, which really suggests that without these the game would be difficult to understand with simple rules alone. One of the games that requires a tenacious mind. This pack comes in the original box with 48 cards and the rules. Note the double J logo on the design of this box.
