World’s Parliament

Jaques published this game, World’s Parliament or Vote By Ballot, before 1880. It was described by them as a ‘New Electioneering Game’ affording great fun. There are no instructions or rules with this game so it’s not clear how the game was played. There are candidates on 42 cards with their place of origin, a flag and a little snippet of information. The rest of the pack is made up of ‘aye’ and ‘no’ cards which are all represent the voting in parliament but are, in fact, depiction of actual eyes and noses. A dog’s nose, a pig’s snout and an elephant’s trunk are also included. There are 86 cards in this pack and it also has a chestnut box. The interior of the lid shows various voting slogans.
